Welcome to The Indie Book Club by Scribe & Sign: a relaxed, bookish monthly night out with no compulsory reading and no pressure.
£20 per month · 25 founding memberships · cancel future renewals anytime. Each month includes one specially selected signed book by an independent author and one place at our monthly gathering. Spin the genre wheel to help choose the following month's surprise read.
Activities and materials included. Scribe & Sign provides the organised activities at our monthly gatherings, including all materials needed for our craft sessions, as part of your £20 monthly membership.
When and where
The second Thursday of every month, starting 10 December 2026. Meetings start at 7pm and last approximately 1½–2 hours. The venue is TBC and will be within 15 miles of the Northampton NN1 postcode area. Full venue details will be emailed to members at least seven days before each gathering.

Travelling Tales sessions feature books available to browse and purchase separately; they are not book swaps.
No homework, ever. Read your book if you fancy it, join the conversation if you want to, or simply enjoy the evening.
November founding sign-ups and payment dates
Join during November 2026 and pay £20 at sign-up for December membership. Your next £20 payment is scheduled for 1 January 2027, then on the 1st of each following month for that month. Your November payment covers December’s signed book and gathering; it does not include an additional November book or gathering.
You can cancel future renewals at any time through your subscription management link or by contacting Scribe & Sign. If you paid in November for December, your December book, gathering and reserved place remain covered even if you cancel future renewals before January. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
Join from 1 December up to 7pm on 3 December 2026 and pay £20 at sign-up for December membership, with your next £20 payment on 1 January 2027. Signup for the 10 December gathering closes seven days before it. After the cutoff, please contact us about the next intake; we will not take a December membership payment. New memberships remain subject to availability within the 25-place limit.
There is no six-month commitment. Membership renews monthly until you cancel future renewals. Memberships cannot be paused or months skipped.
Can't make a meeting?
You may send someone else in your place when you are unable to attend. Your substitute uses your single reserved place and receives your signed monthly book on your behalf; this is not an additional guest place or a permanent transfer of membership.
If neither you nor a substitute attends, we will post your signed monthly book to you. UK postage is included in your £20 monthly fee, with no additional UK postage charge. Please let us know you need postal delivery and confirm your current UK postal address. We will dispatch your book on the next working day after the meeting, provided we have the correct address; otherwise, on the next working day after it is confirmed. Dispatch is not a guaranteed delivery date. Postal delivery under this membership is to UK addresses only.
No refunds are given for no-shows or missed meetings. Not attending does not pause your membership or remove the monthly payment obligation. You receive one signed book per paid membership month, whether collected by you, collected by your substitute, or posted to you.
Cancellation and rejoining
You may cancel future renewals at any time through your subscription management link or by contacting Scribe & Sign. Cancel before the next monthly payment is processed to stop that renewal. Your membership benefits and reserved place continue through the month you have paid for. A November signup payment covers December, so cancelling future renewals before January does not remove your paid December book or gathering. If a renewal has already been processed, cancellation stops subsequent renewals and you retain that paid month’s book and gathering. These terms are subject to your statutory rights.
When cancellation takes effect, your reserved place ends. There is no automatic reinstatement or held place. To rejoin, you must sign up again, and can do so only if a space is available within the 25-member limit.
These attendance and cancellation terms do not affect your statutory rights.
